Thor Ragnarok Movie Synopsis
Before actually starting off with the synopsis of this movie, you might want to know what the term Ragnarok means. It is basically the end or apocalypse of all gods. Ragnarok is a cycle of death, destruction, and rebirth.
Thor: Ragnarok is a movie tracking the story of the mighty Thor trying to break the cycle of Ragnarok and preventing the Goddess of Death, Hela from destroying his homeworld, the Asgardian civilization.
Thor, in the film, initially has been seen unsuccessfully looking for the Infinity Stones and is now imprisoned by the fire demon Surtur. Surtur reveals that Odin is no longer in Asgard and that the Realm will soon be destroyed in the prophesied Ragnarok. But Thor soon defeats Surtur, believing that he has prevented the event and assumes his crown.
In the film, Thor arrives in Asgard after hearing about trouble brewing in his home world, and when he arrives he finds Loki impersonating their lost father, Odin and that his rather lax style of ruling has led to some lapses in the rules and leads to the freeing of prisoner Hela, the Goddess of Death. Thor and Hela, as one would expect, come to blows when they meet, which sees Thor “blasted” to Sakaar, described as “a barbaric planet ruled by the charming but nefarious Grandmaster.” Thor discovers Valkyrie on this planet, hiding out, who brings him to the Grandmaster to make him a gladiator, where he meets the most popular competitor in the arena, The Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger, and loses his trademark hair and precious and powerful hammer, Mjolnir, destroyed by the vicious Hela.
We also witness Stephan Strange in the movie (from the movie, Doctor Strange; remember the last scene, if you will!) helping out Thor with time travel and meeting Odin in Norway on the planet Earth and correcting the mistakes he has done. Amongst all this chaos, the movie also has a newfound stroke of humor and amazing entertainment which all Marvel movies promise.

“Ragnarok gives Thor the multiple buddy comedies he’s always deserved” – The A.V. Club
Thor can be pretty funny: in his outsize physique, in his flared-nostril vanity, in the way his King’s English theatricality clashes with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Joss Whedon got the humor in the character, even if he never gave him much to do in the crowded ensembles of his Avengers movies. And now so, too, does Taika Waititi, the New Zealand director of What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilder people, recruited to bring his offbeat charm to the MCU.
